We all have goals when it comes to walking don’t we? Now with Fitbits, and Apple Watches and even our phones that track our steps, how many of us try to get in a minimum of 10,000 steps a day or maybe even more? I know that when I first started tracking my steps, my goal was not 10,000 it was 4,000. When I got a fit bit though I automatically changed it to 10,000. Now you are probably wondering why, well 10,000 steps makes me feel, as though I have gotten a good walking day in. The question is with all the walking apps we have, why is 10,000 steps a good number when it comes to walking? I don’t know exactly off hand but according to the internet the goal of 10,000 steps is the recommended daily step target for healthy adults to achieve health benefits. So 10,000 steps is the daily goal of steps when it comes to health benefits. That might not seem like much when it comes to walking daily. It is however the question is why is it?
So if the recommended step goal is 10,000 steps for everyone, daily why is it so hard to achieve? Is it because of all the office jobs or the jobs where you just stand and don’t move? It is more because of the office jobs and being so stationary at your desk for eight hours a day, which is what most people do. If you do get in those 10,000 steps when you work in an office what happens? You feel good because of all the activity you are doing. The more activity you do the better you feel. That includes walking and getting your 10,000 steps. You are probably thinking but getting 10,000 steps a day is so hard, but it really isn’t not if you track them and just move your body. You will be amazed at how many steps you get by just doing everyday things and moving your body.
Walking, running, grocery shopping, vacuuming, cleaning the house, cleaning up the yard all these things can contribute to your 10,000 daily step goal. A fit flex life workout can even greatly contribute to that. Soo what exactly should your daily step goal be? Well 10,000 steps, how are you going to get those 10,000 steps a day? Fitting fitness into your life, the more you fit fitness into your life the more you will reach your goal of 10,000 steps. Now you are probably saying but I can’t reach that goal right away, with what I do in my life but that’s okay just start off small and work your way up. If you can reach 5,000 in a day doing fit flex life things then make that your goal for a week or so, but the next week bump it up to 5,000 more and see what happens. Does walking 10,000 steps, make you feel accomplished or getting in 9 hours active if you have a fit bit? Or any fitness tracker?
Just moving your body and seeing the number go up can be a good motivator too do you think? I think that it can because it makes you want to do more and more. When you see yourself getting in the steps you don’t want to stop because it isn’t hard if you think about it or if you don’t think about it and just move your body that is. See what I just did there, I made you think. When you move your body with your fitness tracker how do you feel? When you see the numbers go up you feel accomplished and just want to keep going. So do that and set your goal to 10,000 steps and see if you reach it. Or start off small and work your way up to it and see what happens. I am sure you will feel great, and want to just keep going.
Walking 10,000 steps, is good for you because not only does it keep your blood pumping, it gives you a goal to work towards daily. When you have a goal to work for daily you try and achieve it. Goals are meant to be crushed even if that means taking 10,000 steps. If you aren’t really a gym goer and you still, want to get a workout in to achieve your 10,000 steps, try fitting fitness into your life, which is essentially movement. Just keep your body moving, work up a bit of a sweat and you will be well on your way to achieving your 10,000 step goal. That is easy enough isn’t it?
Walking 10,000 steps is good for you because, you are keeping yourself active which can be considered a workout. People want that don’t they? Yes it is so track your steps try to get 5,000 to 10,000 a day and see what happens in your fitness. It is easy and doesn’t even feel like fitness half the time, that is a great workout don’t you think? Try it for yourself and see you may be surprised and want to keep going with it. Think about how you feel after reaching 10,000 steps too.

Most of the time you do a workout whether it be at home, the gym, or a fit flex life one but you still walk too, you just add the steps you do in your workout to your number of steps you need in your day. I love hitting my 9 hours active goal and my 10,000 step goal because it makes me feel accomplished in my day. What about you?
